Sant Julià dels Garrics

Sant Julià dels Garrics

An other very recomendable excursion is visiting the romanesque church Sant Julià dels Garrics.
Go by car about 10km uphill until you will find a sign on your right hand side.

The church is from the 12th century that conserves a large part of its original structure, as well as the exterior decoration of lesenes and blind arches. On the main altar there is a 16th century altarpiece dedicated to Saint Julian.

They built up several excursions all around the church, short, middle and large, so you will find one that suits you.
You can park just next to the church.
Don’t miss it!!!

This Romanesque-style church is first documented in the year 1119. It is located a short distance from the small village of Sisquer, in the municipality of La Vansa i Fórnols.

It has the typical Romanesque structure, with a single nave and semicircular apse. Part of the vault is barrel vaulted with a pointed profile at some points, which shows its different phases of construction. On the main altar there is an altarpiece, recently restored, which narrates the life of Saint Julian and dates from the end of the 16th century. The exterior is decorated with blind arches and lesenes and a semicircular voussoir doorway under a belfry.
